1. Overview

DirectGigs ("we," "us," or "our") is a peer-to-peer gig marketplace operated by Uhlmann Fabrication LLC, a Virginia company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the DirectGigs mobile application and website at directgigs.app (collectively, the "Platform").

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

Plain language summary: We collect what we need to run a safe, local gig marketplace. We never sell your personal data. We never hold or process money between users — all job payments happen directly between individuals.

2. Data We Collect

Account Information

Identity Verification Data

To verify your identity and confirm you are 18 or older, we use a third-party identity verification provider (Stripe Identity or Persona). This process may collect:

ID verification is required to post jobs or make offers on the Platform. This service is paid for by the user at the time of verification.

Background Check Data

Background checks are conducted through Checkr, Inc. They are optional for workers — but required for ride-related gigs, and job posters may choose to require a background check before hiring any worker. Workers who complete a background check earn a Verified badge, which can be a deciding factor when a poster has set their gig to verified-workers-only. Data submitted to Checkr includes:

Checkr handles this data under their own privacy policy. We receive only a pass/fail result and a badge status. Background check costs are paid by the user.

Location Data

Job & Transaction Data

We do not collect, process, or store any payment information between users. Job payments are made directly between individuals (cash, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, etc.). We have no visibility into these transactions.

In-App Messages

Messages sent between users within the Platform are stored for up to 30 days. Messages may be reviewed by our moderation team if flagged for abuse, NSFW content, or in response to a report. We use automated scanning to detect prohibited content.

Reviews & Ratings

Device & Technical Data

Subscription & Billing Data

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription state. We do not store your credit card information — Apple and Google handle all payment processing under their own privacy policies.

The $2 per-post fee for non-subscribers is also processed through the app stores. We receive only a confirmation of payment, not raw payment details.

3. How We Use Your Data

We do not use your data to train AI or machine learning models. We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing.
